What you need to do is speak to the Salvage people who are going to be covering these costs.

What you need to do is e-mail/FAX them cut-outs from Autotrader etc to show the price of these cars on todays market.

The insurance company will not have a Cap'd price for the car, as an Import.

I had the same problem with my REV2. Written off by some nerd about 2 years ago. Insurance wanted to give me £3500 - 750 excess (like you), and I paid £4800 for it about 4 months before. I haggled with them and said £2750 would not buy me another similar MR2 Turbo. I told them I paid 4800 for it (forward on my receipt) and told them that depreciation would mean it would be at least £4500. I sent him fax'ed copies of the Autotrader showing that the cars with similar milage were of that price. So we settled at them giving me £4250 so £3500 with the excess taken off.

Hope this helps fella.

Never heard of them.

Its been a while since I've been in motor claims. Basically buy Auto trader Exchange&Mart etc cut out all of the MR2 like yours at the 6.5k value as evidence. Bear in mind you got it from trade so I reckon you should be able to squeeze 5.5k out of them? Go on Auto trader web sites and hopefully find some trade ads where they'll be priced higher. Look at all the import companies ie newera, JDi etc and print off their examples which may have higher prices. Also dont forget earlier models priced at 4k. That gives you the fight of well if a 92 version goes for 4k private then mine should go for more than 5k. How about the sheet from the auction which states the cars condition when it was imported/ up for sale.

Or maybe slip these guys a red note
