Rev 2 N/A T-bar (Possible easy fix) £650 O.N.O

Post by HughesR1 »

I seem to have put this car up for sale every bloody week but sadly it finally has to go. I have diesel daily and the Elise for trackwork so I really can't justify this on the driveway :(

Anyway...

1993 MR2 Rev2 T-bar N/A UK £650 O.N.O

116k Miles
Tax: Nov 2013
MOT: April 2014
Full Service History (Cambelt, welding, MOTs etc)

Good Bits:
- Rear arches & boot fabricated & welded for MOT
- Floor pan seatbelt reinforcement welded recently
- Black SW20 OEM wheels with OEM Spec Yokohama A022 tyres (Very rare these days, 4-5mm tread)
- CRN Grooved discs with EBC Yellowstuff pads
- Full Leather interior (Drivers seat bit worn)
- The Sills aren't pretty but they are actually solid (Couple of dinks where it was lifted wrong but hold the car fine and always goes through MOT)
- Osram Nightbreaker bulbs
- Crystal sidelights and indicators
- Recent Diff seals & gearbox oil
- Red wrapped T-bars (Easy to remove)
- K&N Induction kit
- Apexi JDM adjustable dampers & springs (front adjusters dont work)
- Good paint, very little faded scratches or chips compared to most 3E5 red MR2's this age!
- New ARB droplinks
- Kenwood Headunit & sony component speakers
- JDM Metal gearknob and SBits shifter bearing kit
- DIY polyurethane engine mounts

Bad Bits:
- After recent oil change oil pressure light has been showing at idle once the car is warmed up, give it the slightest bit of throttle and light goes out. I looked on a couple of websites (http://www.imoc.co.uk/technical/faq/war ... lights.htm) which says this is normal but personally I would think the bottom end bearings could do with new shells. It still drives but ideally I would drop a new engine in there or re-shell bearings (Cheap as chips on ebay).
- Exhaust flexi section is blowing. Again you can pick these up cheap from places such as MrTwo's etc. (Exhaust blowing means car has a lost a bit of torque and quite noisy)
- The underneath of the sills have a dent on them where its been lifted wrong or something. Not noticeably unless looking under car and no problem at MOT

Tried to be as honest as I can with this. Its a fairly clean body with very little stonechips and marks compared to most. The images are not photoshopped in anyway, with a good wash & wax it really does shine in the sun! If I were to keep it I would ideally swap out the engine as its not worth the risk of oil pressure dropping and completely ruining the engine (Also a good turbo swap!). Its drives very stiff, the suspension is for japanese roads so is possibly a bit to stiff for ours but I could throw in stock suspension at the correct price. The front apexi dampers have a quiet squeak when going slow over speedbumps/potholes, they are a bit old but it might just be the bushes need oiling. Car would also be worth a fair bit breaking it for parts which I will do if it doesn't shift.

Its not insured at the moment but I can take you for a short drive around my area and heat it up etc.

So anyway, seems a lot of money but there's a fair some of parts there so £650 O.N.O

Open to decent offers from IMOC members, its taxed and MOT'd and ready to drive away.

I had drove it as it is for a couple of weeks so the motor hasn't gone bang or anything. Just don't have time to mess around these days

If anyone is interested in parts let me know as I might attempt to break it for parts if I can find space to keep bits.

It may be my only choice, the ebay classifed ad has almost expired and I have no cash offers :(

If it didn't have the dents in the sills I would consider doing something with it but the shell isn't 100% perfect so I don't think its worth a swap.

I could link you to wear I got the red vinyl for my roof panels if thats any help?

This car looks brilliant!! Can't believe it hasn't been bought yet.. I've just bought a few things unfortunately or of have taken this off you :( ..

I'm off to see what I can shift to cover the expense of this as it could be a potential daily once sorted

What makes you think it needs new bearing shells / new lump? Is it knocking at all?

I will ask my next door neighbour if he is interested. He is a mechanic and only mentioned to me the other day he is after a two.

The only downside is it is the same colour as mine but looks like it is in better nick.

If you can give me a day or so to speak to him. It looks far too nice to break

That would be much appreciated :thumleft:

And I'm not 100% sure its the shells, but given the symptoms which appeared straight after an oil change it seems to be the general consensus from people. Even if its just a dodgy oil pump it still means the engine would have run with low oil pressure for a bit which I'm guessing isn't good for the bearing shells either.

But who knows, I just don't have time and need it off the drive :(
