Well, got myself quite a good negotiation on a TOM's underbody strut brace, so here's a little project!

You can see it's a little worse for wear on its original paint... So I am going to commit sacrilege and ruin it by repainting it.

It'll get more sanding if I can be bothered, then some sort of rust treatment (recommendations??) then paint! Thinking I either go kind of lairy or bright, and noticeable, or I match it to the car bodywork...

They're a massive PITA to sand by hand, based on my experience of doing mine

Maybe get it blasted and powdercoated?

That isn't a bad idea actually. Wonder how much it'd cost to get one item done, that size...

The place I went to had a minimum order for £40, which allowed me to get loads of bits done and likely more too for that kind of money. It's surprisingly cheap really.

Presumably that would destroy the TOMs label on the bar though? It's on a little metal plaque.

Probably. Mine was already missing so it didn't worry me.

Ohhhhh yes. New seats in today, decided I wanted the Celica seats out. These sit in there very nicely although I was at first a little in doubt.

Also painted the TOMs brace, will put photos up later.

TOM's brace now finished in BMW bright red!

Also, a shot of my audio kit that's lined up to go into the car. JBL amp, VIBE 6x9s (525 Watts!!) and component speakers. A great second-hand deal and good enough quality products for me, even if they're maybe not the best in the world.

Yeah - they aren't the ideal dream seat... But functionally, they're perfect, so I'm happy enough to stick with them. Bought as a bit of a hit-and-hope, but pleased so far.

Next big job is changing the throttle position sensor, cleaning the iscv, fitting the TOMs brace, and getting all that audio in.

Funny you should say that Libertine!

Please have a look at the for sale thread I put up that Magic Beans has just linked to above.

Apart from the information there, you'll be pleased to hear I've just had a new alu radiator, new walbro pump, new coil on plug leads (>£300), new throttle position sensor, new MAF sensor, new gearbox oil, the list goes on and on - all parts apart from radiator (MR2-Ben) being from Toyota. A major service costing over £1000.

I also tallied up expenses in my meticulous document for this car. Over £5000 spent on it, NET - ie after credit from sales of parts - this year so far. Bet that made you wince!

I know that feeling. Try spending that much and then crashing the car a few hours later, then having to spend the same again :pale: #-o

I don't think you should be selling this mate... Genuinely. Just hang fire as This could be a big Mistake... It's a cracker!

However if you do sell.... Get a Vette for sure. :)
