[Mk2] [NA] Buzz from plasma dials

Post by Marty95 »

Hi,

I fitted a set of plasma dials to the car and there is a annoying buzz from the inverter which is connected to the dials. I wrapped the inverter in a jiffy bag and tape which has reduced the buzz greatly.

Could the jiffy bag heat up and catch fire tho?? 8-[
Im not sure.

Cheers

If they're adjustable, the buzz should be quieter if you reduce the brightness.

If you're not sure about heat build-up, I wouldn't leave it like that.

What about putting the inverter inside another plastic box of some kind, or relocate the inverter so you can't hear it.

The inverter will humm because it's converting DC into AC. The humm is a sideline conversion frequency. I don't think a jiffy bag will hurt much so long as it doesn't heat up too much. You could try some foam wrapped round it and hide it somewhere deeper?

...or like I did and just get rid of them. Speedhuts are terrible quality if you end up with bad ones. LoL
