How would you understand this.

If some one were to describe their turbo to you and said the following:

It doesnt come on boost to almost 5k revs.

Im a bit confused about the "doesnt come on boost" untill bit.

Is this describing when the turbo "kicks" in or when it starts making boost? ie spooling up form - to +.

generally people talk like that when the turbo becomes efficient, i.e produces more than about 7psi of boost.

Even huge turbos product some boost low down, maybe only 1 or 2 psi but its enough to get things moving.

i would take it as meaning when you actually get the full kick from the turbo. As in 3-3.5k rpm in the MR2.

Ok so generally when it kicks. Some guy was telling me about his turbo over email on his nissan 200sx and thats how he described it.

Thought it might give me a better idea of how the turbo Im after works since the engine is also 2.0. Considering that, then my stroker kit should help things spool up quicker. So hopefully at around 4500 I should be getting a decent bit of torque.
