I found the code in the owner's manual and I've ordered one from the eBay guy recommended upthread.

I hope OP has found this as helpful as I have.

I have two keys, the one with the black plastic at the top and one with no plastic & a silvery finish

The silvery one was supplied with the car as a spare, it has almost never been used and is in as new condition

The other is the one that is always used & is well worn & a sloppy slack fit in the steering lock

Both keys can be removed from the lock with the engine still running

So there is definately a lock problem in my case

The car has only done 60K miles ffrom new
