Oddshoes Roadster - Now body kitted

Post by oddshoes »

Hi All

I have been around for a while now I bought my first 2 in 2006 which was a 1990 Rev 1 black GT Tbar Turbo and after lots of enjoyable times and after alot of money spent she looked like this, before I then ended up breaking parts and selling her on two and half years later.

Image Image

For a while I was driving around in a EG civc (about 2 months if that) I saw a lovely 2000 V plate Rev 5 sonic shadow GTi Tbar and made the long drive from London to Sheffield for her. I had her for about 6 months and after again spending money on doing some nice things to her and got told I might getting made redundant so again I sold my 2 :( which looked like this from the stock form I bought her in

Image

Well after about 2 months I sold her I found out that I wasn't going to get made redundant... ](*,) I the mean time I bought a MK1 MX5 and after running around in in that for 6 months and enjoying the handling but not the lack of power I ended up buying and MR2 lol. This was my third and she was 1996 Rev 3 GT Tbar in white again in stock form because I like a project ;) and 3 years later I was fairly happy with where she was and I sold her for personal reasons and wanting to get a mk3 as a track car at some stage and a really nice bloke from here bought her where she looked like this at the time of the sale.

With the idea of what I wanted having no car keys on me at all over even a Toyota not in my ownership it felt really weird but with in 2 or 3 days I found my new roadster and project :D

ImageImage

but she is a CAT D write due to panel damage and it looked like this

ImageImage

she has TTE exhaust and Springs (so a subtle little drop), Hard top and with only 57K on the clock not bad hey! £50 for a replacement panel from a breaker in the same colour and 2 hours to fit it and you wouldn't really know and all done for under a £1000 and yes I have already knocked out the Pre Cats as they where still there

There's not enough MK3 threads here, so I'll be following this with much interest :thumleft:

Well been bust since my last post! I have painted a luggage rack in satin black and fitted it and also fitted a genuine TRD body kit, tho it is in silver at the moment but one of the kind members over on mr2oc photo shopped it from this as it is at the moment

too colour coded or satin

Looking good :)

My girlfriend has got it in her head that she also needs a car to play with, so we've been looking at MK3s. So there might be another one in the fold, unless I can convince her we really don't need 4 cars :eye:

Let her get one then get yourself on the insurance and you can swap between the mk2 and mk3 like I do. The mk3 really does have a fabulous little chassis.

was always curious - what's in the front ? no boot?

never been a fan of mk3... looks like a knock-off boxster... Interesting to drive I hear, though!

Well this week for me has been a significant one for me personally and also a very busy one too, but my car now has a Breast............ plate

Image

I give you Corkys breast plate (the black one), compared to the OEM one below you can see that the car is going to be more rigid and when driving her now you can see how some extra or better bracing makes such a difference to how these cars drive. I knew there was not much body roll before but now there's alot less and I will do more bracing over time! On a side note I drove Laura's MK2 yesterday and although it was nice to sit in one again I now prefer to drive my MK3! Though I do miss the sound of the exhaust note from the MK2 (she has a TRD system) they seem to sound more purposeful. I have also decided that my little roadster is going to be more of a functional item as I do plan on driving her hard (as I normally do to be honest) but will be taking her on track often when I can too, so instead of going colour coded on the TRD stage1 body kit I am going for the satin black option

Image

Image

I will satin black the intake vents but I am ideally after getting some aftermaket vents for her and swapping out my TTE rear bumper inserts too for something different. It will be easier to repair and cover up any stone chips when sprayed in the stain black... and on the lighter side I have bought my first sticker for the car as we all know..... it gives you an extra 10 bhp

 Good work fella.

How you doing? What has happened this week of such significance..... lost your virginity again?

The mk3 is looking really good... I'm trying to persuade Miche to let me give her 'Red ' a few treats. I'm thinking a TTE twin exhaust, lowering springs and a nice hard top for the winter (... or track perhaps). Do you know if Toyota ever did a quickshifter for the mk3?

Lastly let me know when you're this way next.... I've got too many beers in my fridge and could do with your help to rectify the issue.

Cheers mate I am good thanks, a few things have happened I have finally finished my diploma and passed it, been offered a new job too. I have the TTE twin exit exhaust so if you want to know want it sounds like I am happy to demonstrate it for you, i believe there is a quickshifter for the mk3 but i am not sure if its a TTE or TRD option. I will be passing your place tomorrow as me and Laura are popping upto my uncles in Stevenage for a family thing.... I drove Laura's MK2 yesturday and today, I perfer my mk3 now to be honest as her mk2 feels heavy, not a chuckable and defo not as good on the brakes either. drop me a text tomorrow if your free and want me to pop over ;)

Well seeing that i havent posted for a while i thought that I should up date my project thread for you guys

My steering UJ started to play up so ordered a new one through TCB's Ebay page and at £120 delivered I think it was quite reasonable as Toyota want a couple hundred from want i am lead to believe. When its been to so hot I have loved having working Aircon and when its been milder the roof has been down and the aviators have been on :D

I bought a Toyota GB rear ducktail spoiler and sprayed and fitted that as well as the TRD Stage 1 bodykit and a pair of C-one scoops,

Bought a padded arm rest for the interior and had some cusco rear bracing fitted too,

A set of JDM number plates,

Replacement CAT as my flexi was just starting to blow

here are some pic
