[Mk2] [Turbo] Handbrake sensor
Hi, I think my sensor is faulty or has come loose on my handbrake as my handbrake light won't go off and all my brake fluid levels are perfect.
How and what is the easiest way to get to the sensor to check it? Thanks

Remove arm rest on tunnel.
You can then see the switch by the handbrake lever.

Thanks, roughly how many screws should I need to take out? Is it just the straight piece that needs to come off?

Storage box at rear first

Lift gear lever gaitor

Unclip gaitor surround

Centre arm rest

right, i have had a look at my handbrake switch and the little piston on the switch is not stuck and works freely.
but the light does not go out when doing this, do you think the sensor could be faulty? or any other ideas? thanks

Check handbrake switch with a mulitmeter for correct operation.

If OK, check brake fluid level switch.

Thanks again, I'll buy a multimeter and check it out, how easy is it to check the sensor in the Brake fluid?

Also are these sensors easy to get hold of? Do you have any Peter? Thanks

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Handbrake sensor
What was the multimeter set to and which switch were you testing? If it's ohms that indicates the switch is closed
(little or no resistance).

Hi I'm not sure what he set the multimeter to.
(it was my mate at work) he tested the wire that goes into the handbrake sensor/switch.
Does this mean there is a fault with the wire?
