I knew it wouldn't be long before I missed my MR2 so I'm back with my 4th one so far.

Searched for a quite a while to find a nice car and didn't realise how hard it was these days to find a nice solid Mk2

Anyway I picked this up because the owner had had it 7 years, had full service history, Tax

& MOT, and it looked like a solid car.

.

.

Oh how I was wrong.

Got it home to find the owner must have just undersealed over the rust for 7 years as when I got it up in the air and gave it a good whack both rear arches and the drivers floor just broke through.

Stripped it out and found nastyness

Oh dear, both rear arches where it joins the boot were totally shot.

Got every welded up and sealed for

£220.

However the brake balance was still way off so thought whilst I refurb the calipers I would throw in some grooved discs and yellowstuff pads

(use them in the Elise and love

'em)

Got through its MOT fine then

Next was to clean up the paint work, some places had faded terribly but overall the paint was clean and good to work with, very few stone chips aswell.

I got to work doing a quick cut over with the DA machine polisher just to get rid of the major fadedness and it come up OK.

My shocks were also getting pretty tired so I took a risk on some

£100 Apexi adjustable shocks and springs off ebay.

Look similar to the ones below V

Whilst the weather was good this weekend I decided to take the T-bars off and wrap them red

(I do a lot of my own sign writing so only took about 30 mins), and also fit the new parts I had ordered over last month

(Shocks, lights, number plate, shifter kit, K&N induction kit, stereo etc)

And this is how it stands today

Happy with it at the moment but still have a few more things to do before it goes to Le Mans next months!

- Fit new sump

(this is rotten)

- Deeper cut with the machine polisher

- Refurb wheels Anthracite

- Fit my Yokohama A022's

(Cheeky ebay win)

And hopefully polybush everything when I get back.

Alex

(Oh, and here's a cheeky pic of the Elise for those interested!)
