[Mk2] [NA] low oil light

my low oil light keeps coming on, iv checked my oil and its fine i only changed it 3 month ago, it came on when i was driving home but when i started it this morning it was fine so i took it for a drive the light came on again but it will turn off every so often, any shed any light on this? thanks :(

Assuming you're referring to the oil level light (as opposed to oil pressure light), sounds like the sensor in the sump is on it's way out.

Replacements are about £200, so if your sump is full of oil, and the problem continues, and you don't want to spend £200, just remove the bulb from the dash cluster.

ETA

Simply unplugging it will not extinguish the light.

ye its the oil level the orange 1, so is it safe to drive if i dont change it mate?

It's the oil level that matters, not the orange light, so just go by your dipstick level. :thumleft:

mines a rev2 mate and if its not gonna blow my engine up id rather not pay 200 to fix it :oldtongue:

I might have a rev2 N/A Oil level sensor going soon if you did want to replace it mate? New sump doesn't have a hole for the sensor so it won't be going back on my car lol
