Seat Belt Bolt

Does anyone know the size and thread of seat belt bolts, where it bolts into the floor near base of seat? The thread has gone in the hole and needs retapping just not sure of the size

Are you not able to measure the thread pitch of the bolt that came out?

What size spanner fits on the head of the bolt?

Volvo hold the patents on this stuff although happy for everyone to copy. The original fixings were UNF shows how long ago and to retest using different threads would incur X expense so even today these threads are used. Always worth a double check but 7/16 UNF comes to mind.

Sorry couldnt reply straight away. the bolt has a 14mm head (9/16 i think). i cant find anywhere local to me that sells re-taps or thread repair kits

yep 7/16 UNF.

Universally used (7/16 UNF) much like all petrol fuelfiller necks are universal which is why i dumped the MR2 cap that required the adjustable spanner and fitted a Ford Focus cap on a strap.

You could be the only person that does not occasionally or even regularly need extra assistance to remove the fuel cap before the whoosh in the tank, unless you never go low and refill at half full? Common thing.....standard fuel cap has not enough purchase to grip on so adjusty comes to the rescue or you have to drive off the forecourt red faced unable to remove the cap for a refill!! Standard cap...crap.

Man that's never happened to me in three years. They do get tough to twist sometimes but it's always opened. And I'm a tank empty kinda guy!

Interesting that you can swap fuel caps with any car, though... Learned something new.

Seat belt threads allmajor company's 7/16 UNF. Fuel cap threads almost sure most are the same as a universal item but some can be longer in the thread than others and venting to consider.

Same here, Occasionally it gets a little tight but never too tight to remove with just the one hand.
