Heard no contact from xspower since ordering when they stated they were waiting for stock to come in.
Their website doesnt even work anymore either so I think I'm gonna have to claim my money back through paypal ](*,)

As tubby_tony said, I'm in the exactly same situation, except that I've already put in a Paypal claim. Still waiting for that to go through.

Hopefully all of us will get our monies back. It's a sad state of affairs when you have to screw over your clients like this..

Emissions legislation has been around for years. :?

You simply have to put the cat back on your car that it was required to have since the day it was built. No benchmarks have changed or are due to change.

All imports 1st registered after August 1995 must pass a cat test.

They already do.

Thanks for clarifying.

I know there are emissions test but I wasn't aware that they affected imports.

I'm going to be putting a cat on my mongoose (!) permanently as it seems to much of a faff for it to go on and of.

I suspect this is more of a pain with turbos?

I should have got a a 3s-fe! :eye:

Guys, its quicker and easier to just contact your card provider and request a chargeback. Paypal will not even entertain the idea if its over 90 days. The bank dont care and will charge it to paypal leaving them to sort the mess. I had to do the same with a duff engine I bought. Works easier and sooooo much quicker.

That's certainly a more reasonable option -- assuming you didn't use your Paypal balance to pay for it like some..

For this years MOT I put the original CAT back in. Spool up is way later than what I am used to. Anyway, got this done by AAS in Newburn, Newcastle £280. Its a 4" diameter 200 cell sports CAT fitted into my 6 year old GTSChris 3" downpipe. Absolutely loads of room between downpipe and engine. And spool up is alot better than std CAT.

How do they define a car 1st registered date? Is it what dvla goes by or what is shown as the 1st day of registration on mot?

It's not based on registration date but on date of first use: http://www.motuk.co.uk/images/730_newp9.pdf

Therefore turbo imports manufactured before 31st July 1995 do not require a cat even if they were imported and registered after that date. This is how my car (and many other peoples MR2s) get through MOT every year.

That's not help to NA owners (as the engine is on the VOSA database) or turbo owners with cars made after 1st August 1995.

Yes, provided it's a turbo. That's the same as my car ('94 imported in '98 ) and I go through MOT every year with a decat. I've moved area this year though, so on Monday I go into a new testing centre armed with a printout of the diagram I posted complete with highlighting and annotations :thumleft:
