(NO LONGER FOR SALE) 1993 Rev-2 T-bar N/A £600 (Tax & MOT)

Post by HughesR1 »

1993 MR2 Rev2 T-bar
114k Miles
Tax: May 2013
MOT: April 2013
Full Service history

Only picked this up last month but found some problems with it that I just don't have time to fix up, drives great and has Tax & MOT so could be a nice little project for someone.

Good Bits:
- The car drives great, motor doesn't burn oil, no knocks or rattles etc
- Every service stamp in the book (Cambelt done twice)
- Decent staggered Hankook tyres all round (Fronts are new, rear 50%)
- recent new front brake pads/discs
- Full Leather interior
- approx 1 month Tax & MOT
- The sills themselves are quite solid, you can jack the car up on them no problem at all.
- Private plate "A1 2 MKG"

Bad Bits:
- Rust patch on floor (Common seatbelt anchor point)
- Rust on inner rear arches where meets boot (not visible)
- Oil leak (Seems to be only when parked up)
- The thin strip of steel on the sills has a crushed section where it has been lifted incorrectly.

I bought this because the previous owner had owned it for 7 years and it looked fairly solid, however when I got it home and had a proper poke about it was clear he had just under-sealed over the rust for 7 year as the rear arch just crumbled. Gave the floor a few whacks with the hammer and its just drivers side seatbelt anchor area that seems to have gone. The fact the sill plate has been crushed and not crumbled where it has been lifted shows they are pretty solid.

Had these issues on another MR2 of mine and it cost around £100 for a plate to be welded on the floor and £220 for the rear arches. But with the oil leak etc and Tax & MOT coming up I just can't justify spending this sort of money again on my daily when it would rather go on my track car!

The rust on the floor will definitely need doing for MOT, rear arches and oil leak will probably just be an advisory I would think.

any questions: [email protected]

Cheers! :thumleft:
