Just got back from seeing Daz's car at sbits, unfortunately for me Daz has decided to keep it. I don't blame him at all because it was as good as he described. Thanks for taking me out in it Daz to show me what a nice one feels like. :thumleft:

So I'm back in the hunt for a nice rev3 someone must have for sale somewhere?

Cash waiting for the right one.

Cheers Rich

It was good to meet up Rich. Hope you enjoyed the little drive. You can't beat some nice boost.

We decided to meet up at Sbits instead so Peter could give the car a good once over before it was sold but unfortunately the drive over to sbits is one of my faves. By the time I got to sbits I knew there was no way I could sell the car. Means too much to me to sell. It'd be like selling your pet dog for some extra cash.

The handbrake issue was resolved with a new cable and is now good as new. It feels better than its ever felt.

The only real issue with my car is the paint. As you saw, it isn't bad but its not perfect. I like it perfect.

The mot expires on wednesday so rather than have it tested on thursday as it would now pass it,s going back to sbits and if all goes well at the paint shop it'll be fully painted, and also a few other things which I've not yet decided. I've had a full berk inter cooler kit sat on my shelf for 2 years so that'll be going in.

Just be patient Rich and the right car will come along for you. If there's any near me, I don't mind coming with to have a look and giving an opinion.

Thanks for the offer Daz, there's one down south near where my girlfriend lives and I'm off to see her next week so I might have a look if it sounds ok on the phone. :thumleft:

With regards to any blue smoke, when's it going to show a problem? Am I right in thinking that if there was any blue smoke it would be after you have lifted the throttle?

Turbo oil seals perished or perishing would be blue oil smoke on idle or off boost.

Thanks Red, is it more likely to be at cold or hot? Or is it all the time?

I forgot to look at Daz's boost gauge when he took me for a spin, what should it be reading when on boost? Is there anything it could do to point to something wrong? I'm guessing the factory boost gauge is a pretty simple one?

The guy that owns the grey one I'm going to see says it has a boost controller with a read out in the cabin. Is the standard Psi 8 or 9, or have I read it wrong somewhere? I think he said it's a exeedy boost controller, what can you set them at on minimum? Just wondering if you could set it lower than standard for say when it's heaving it down?

Thanks Rich :thumleft:

Stock boost gauges don't actually tell you anything. They are crap.

Sheppy has a very nice looking gauge in his which looks almost stock. Probably the only gauge I'd have in my car.

They are pretty easy to remove to go back to stock.

I'm going to make a foam insert for the glove box to house my new boost controller when I decide which one so its not on show

Don't worry about lowering it below stock for wet weather. It's a very docile car when it's driven gently.

Didn't think they did much, I noticed that one sheppy has, it does look very good and something I would seriously consider.

What's the stock boost in Psi? :thumleft:

Run it standard boost for a summer then turn it up a bit and you'll notice the difference.

You can't beat boost.
