I posted a similar question late last year.

I was looking on and off for months and as you say there don't seem to be that many for sale at once, especially not rev3 tintops!

I finally found one I liked and bought it in December, it's a great car!

Hold out for your ideal car, it's worth the wait!

I was happy with mine until a mate took me out in his Sierra Cosworth, on boost it was epic but I had a little drive and absolutely hated the clutch and gearbox. I have always wanted one so after finally having the chance to have a go in one and not liking it has made me realise I'm happier with the 2. I love the way my Mr2 drives and handles so the only thing it's missing is boost! Hence the need for a turbo Mr2 in my life.

Can someone confirm the differences in turbos between the rev1 and 2 and the later rev3+?

rev3+ is the way to go for the following reasons

better styling - spoiler and rear lights

more power 245hp compared to 220iirc on the earlier ones

lsd gearbox

better head gasket on the rev3's

That was a quick reply! Cheers Jason. I had forgot about headgasket :pale:
Do all rev3's onwards have an LSD from the factory?

No air flow meter, higher boost (stock and fuel cut), bigger injectors, throttle body and inlet manifold. Better turbo (CT20b)

Rev3+ turbo is what you want. And as Jason says, later styling package.

im not sure if they all do but most seem to

do a search theres a code on the meatl plate in the frunk that says if the car had one when the car was built - doesnt mean it will still have it though

also the rev3+ cars have better std turbos

Yep they do. A healthy Rev3 will tip 300hp and good response with your basic stage one mods plus decent intercooling/chargecooling.

Definitely want a rev3 then  I wouldn't want over 300bhp so the CT20B sounds perfect, what would the cost be for a new one if it ever needed replacing? On TCB they have the earlier C26 for 400 is the 20B more?

A refurbished CT20b is around £550. A brand new one from Toyota (if memory serves) is about £1200.

I will be selling my rev3 turbo to a family member for £1500 in a couple of months. I was going to advertise it privately but it's in desperate need of some paintwork on the roof and front bumper and I didn't think i'd get much over £1k for it.

So long as they don't ruin it I'll probably buy it back when I have the space \:D/

I have a dilemma with my turbo :(

Rev3 tbar. Mot time next month. The brake calipers have seen better days and its now juddering under braking. It also needs new handbrake cables as the hand brake is very poor. Tyres have also been worn away.

It's probably worth £2600 when the work was done but its gonna cost about a grand to put back to being sweet and fully serviceable.

How much is it worth with breaking? It's a very sad time for mr2s. I was thinking of selling her around June July time but it might not even be worth it.

Sad to see another possibly going but it makes most sense financially to break a car :(

there was nothing wrong with my last turbo, far from it id done loads to it, but it was still worth around £4500/5000 in bits

makes my current rev3 turbo just that little bit rarer now

I do love the car though. If I did sell it I would be gutted. I do love this car and treat it like a baby.

I can feel her talking to me saying ' take me off the road daddy , buy me some new shoes and a new haircut and make me fast again'.

Tbh I'll probably just keep it and refurb / renew the bits over the next couple of months. It could do with a full make over.

There's also a lovely looking red one on car and classics

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C333595#

Looks good but is probably my least favourite combination as in it's a red tbar
:pale:

Just noticed I put a link to the wrong car, the one I meant to put is this one;

Looks very nice and original shame it's a rev2 though really want a rev3

Probably going to sound stupid but what is a GTS? Some sellers mention it being a lightweight version but most don't say anything about it.
