OK, Heres a suggested route, its the most simplest and takes us to Windermere and Coniston, can someone turn my directions into a map like the multimap, I cant figure out how to post one up. Here goes:-
I will be coming down the m53, then the m56, then the m6 northbound up to Junction 36. We can meet up at the roadchef off the m6 that was suggested that I STILL cant remeber, but I know its an easy place to find.
So, from JUNC 36 of the M6....
Take A590 FOR APPROX 3 MILES
GET ONTO A591 WHICH TAKES US TO WINDERMERE (A LONGISH ROAD)
THEN TAKE A593 (at Ambleside) WHICH TAKES US TO CONISTON
TAKE A5902 TO NEWBY BRIDGE
TAKE A590 BACK TO WERE WE STARTED
THIS IS APPROX 36 MILES.

If you are looking on a map then it should follow a rough circular pattern. As you will see from any map, there are loads of other smaller roads that run between Windermere and Coniston and these could be included. I have left out both Derwentwater and Ullswater as visiting these lakes means a lot more mileage and I think coniston and winermere are more scenic and have better roads anyway. Still havent found a decent place for a barbie but there will be one somewhere on route. I will bring mine which is quite small so if we could get a couple more that would be great, or we could just find a decent pub and grab a bite there. Feel free to add on to this route as you see fit. Lets aim to get a finalised one up by Monday. Cheers :D

Hope I got this right, I assume you mean A5092 as there's no A5902, and to cut down the A5084 (alongside Coniston Water) rather than to continue all the way down the A593 ???

It'll only matter that the one in front knows where they're going anyway

Multimap is pants, so here's Google Maps (it's split into 3 for it to show the route correct):

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ll=54.299 ... idge&hl=en

bu88er, didnt see that last link you put up, made one exactly the same but less detailed and blurred. ](*,)

Autoroute says its about 50 miles by the time you've taken the detours into the villages off - better than a 36 mile trip!

Cheers for the maps! The route looks exellent. All we need now is a meeting place. Does anyone know what junction (m6) the roadchef is off as we could meet there. :D

Car13 sorry to hear you cant make it, I was looking forward to seeing your car, bl00dy petrol prices!
Ok, I cant find the Roadchef service station, but I have found a moto service station situated between junc 35 and junc 36 northbound. However you cant access it from the southbound carrigway, you have to exit at junc 35 and get on the northbound section and exit there, its pretty straight forward though. I think this used to be a roadchef and has recently changed hands. It seems to be the closest and easiest one to the lake district so is this ok for everyone for a meeting place??
:?:
I will bring my bbq and some nosh but we will probably need more. As for the designated bbq chef, Im bringing my mate who enjoys nothing more than taking charge over bbq's so im sure he will be glad to handle most of the cooking!

Or if anyone is driving up the m6, I will be joining the m6 at junc 20 so could convoy up to meeting place. Just let me know the time you will be travelling.
