hehe... Thanks

Yeh, its really brings a grin to my face driving it around. And always getting people with Camera Phones taking photo's when I stop at traffic lights in it.. :) A lot of fun... hell it makes me smile anway...

Actually scared the hell out of one of my work collegues the other day, he was proud of the performance of his spanking new BMW Z4 3.0 motor... took him for a quick blat down the road ... told everyone later that I nearly snapped his neck and that my car was certifiably dangerous... :)

My collegues have said that about my car.. and its 'only' pushin about 260ish bhp...

God knows how your car feels!.. lol

I can give you a pretty accurate description actually (owning both a 265-270bhp Rev5 Turbo and the insane TRD2000GT)...

On my Rev5 Turbo GT-S the clutch is light, the boost comes in very early and progressively and the car drives smooth and easily from 3,500 revs boost is clean and pleasant with smooth idle and light controls and steering..

On the TRD2000GT the clutch is aggressively snappy and difficult to learn (takes a few days practice not to stall it all the time!!), however the acceleration is mindbending off the line (faster than many motorcycles!) if you dump the clutch (which is what the triple plater is designed to do!) from about 4K revs... Off boost the car feels pretty similar to the regular tubby but still fast and efficient even below 4k revs... however once ON BOOST.. the car pulls like a steam train and you invariably loose your nerve or run out of road (or are driving at highly illegal speeds) before you can blink an eye... The MPH dial goes up faster than the Revs counter when on boost... quite an intimidating car to driving but utterly seductive once you've tasted the adrenlin rush it provides.... absolutely sensational... the only other car I have experienced the same rush of performance in was Shin from Prospec's R34 Black Skyline GT-R 650BHP democar... same kind of insane performance that forces grown men to blow stupid stupid money on all manner of engine parts... :) two words... Utterly Seductive...

So when you going to bring it and show us then?

Can't we tempt you to either TOTB or JAE in July?

When is TOTB?

I went to JAE last year in the Metallic Purple Rev5 Turbo GT-S (also got a lot of people asking about that car.. also very rare and desirable, love the trd forged monoblock lightweight racing alloys).... but I was quite disappointed really...

TRAX2003 was a far better event.. really enjoyed that one, actually took my old Bayside Blue car to that event....

Picture taken in August 2003 in Italy - small village outside of San Remo... was a lot of fun that road trip... a journey I will never forget :)

TOTB 4 is on the 31st of July 2005 at Elvington near York.

The road is fine, dunno what that comment was about - its a B road, but decent surface :)

Any info on the engine specs, weights of the car etc :D

Very very jealous - I want one hahaha :D
Small turbos - they're not big and they're not clever!

Just say NO to small turbos!

Ahaa - seems more like an HKS MR2 than a TRD one :D lol

Ahh ... the road in to Elvington - if you have prepaid you use the nice left lane, which is pretty good. I only have 4 inches clearance and I've had no issues going in there in the past.

Must be very nice to own one of TRD's awesome creations! 8)

The other 2 authentic TRD2000GT cars that Newera sold where both much older, one was a Rev1 1991 and the other Rev3 1994 editions, both red. Both with no engine modifications, bone stock behind the kit.

It was mentioned in Shaf's thread that the genuine TRD cars were Rev 4+ :?

Anyone shed any light?

Anyway, gorgeous car mate! :D

Thanks,

An official TRD2000GT can actually be any revision... However TRD Techocraft Ltd. Of Japan only started offering conversions from late 1998 onwards at a minimum cost of about £10K (+ fitting). This was not a cheap option and thus very rare as an official car... hence the official VIN plate, etc.

That is the nicest Tubby I have ever seen. And that paintwork :D

Where are you based my friend as I would love to come and see it. Especially to see what 500HP feels like in a Tubby. I only have 450(ish)

Fantastic car. 8)

P.S.

You have a good website starting up there my man :)

Well it certainly wasn't 500bhp if that's what you mean. It was in the end though. :)

But you had to have quite a bit of work done, hence the comment!

Still a nice car though :)
