Hmm I bought a set from Toyota not more than 2 years ago( around 2010) for not more than £100. How has jumped to £300?

They haven't. Current price is around £125 plus VAT.

I have to say that I purchased a set of Magnacor leads about 8 years ago for my N/A and they have been fine, no deterioration noticed at all. It does seem like you have had an unlucky experience. One possibility could be that the damage is external, a mouse or something? Not being funny but it does happen. Whilst not the same issue it happened to a friends large model yacht a blasted mouse got in and chewed all the wiring to pieces!

Good luck

My car came with Magnecor leads. Not had any problems, certainly nothing like what you guys are saying!

There seems to be allot of bad press about Magnecors -they don't seem to have a good rep on here over the years however I've had them on 3 cars now and they've been faultless:

Rev 2 N/A (gen 2 3sge) -prefect apart from them giving me 2 No 2's and no king lead -rectified by them fine. Sure I used gen 3 3sgte leads for this (slightly thicker)
My first ST205 -used the same part as above, king lead was I thought an inch too short but worked and lasted fine on the gen 3 3sgte
My second ST205 (current weekend toy) -have had the same leads on for almost a year now, same as above, you would think the king lead is an inch too short but as never given any issues once fitted, they still look brand new

I've never had any problems with them over the years and I rate them for th money, all 3 kits were bought through Rogue. Maybe next time I'll get a bum set I guess!
