My measured oil pressures - good or bad?

Post by Finn »

My -89 has 170000 km (appr. 105000 miles) on the clock.

We measured oil pressure today with a proper gauge just out of curiosity as the original OP gauge is what it is - it is consistent but I don't know what the readout is in bar etc.

Specs are:

Anyway, engine/oil in operating temperature engine idling appr. 2.0 bar

At 3000 rpm 4.2 bar

We could see the check valve operating and cutting the oil pressure to above mentioned appr. 4.2 bar.

This is with semisynthetic 5W-30.

For a layman like me this seems fine. Or does it?
