Both nice cars. One reason why I wouldnt buy a 355 (if i were rich) is because it looks too much like a mr2. I much prefer the 360 over the 355. 8)

Yea I thought it was a t-bar when I first seen it bud then realized once I got closer :)

I love the 355 but the mr2 replicas have spoilt them for me :(

Yeah, I'd love a F355, but for me, there is only one Ferrari:

and agree the f40 is super sexy but the f40 lightweight looks way sexier in either of its original colours

There's a man with a yellow 2GR engined 355 kit who'd beg to differ I'm sure

Pics? :thumleft:
Has he cut out the T Bar center bar and gone for a custom single aerotop style roof?

If he did, how'd he strengthen the chassis? Interested :thumleft:

i would love to get rid of the t-bar and have a 1 piece aerotop, that's the only thing that i don't like about the mr2 :(

must be doable, look at the mr2 spiders

Alot of times an easy way to tell is by checking the rear window for the toyota manufacture marking, alot of guys don't replace it.

Basically, a t-bar is a spyder but with some additonal cosmetic bits. As it doesn't have a rigid roof monocoque, the chassis is strengthened to reduce flex which makes it heavier hence the reason the track boys prefer tin tops/sunroof models.

The MK2 spyder was made from a bog standard t-bar and simply had the the upper roof section take off. Patrick on TwoBrutal is in the process of doing exactly the same thing for his 2GR build.

The 355 is a classic. I seriously considered one when i bought my Noble, but i really hated the dated interior.

But I have never understood why anyone would want to cruise around in a fake car. Same people that wear an eBay Rolex too i guess...

Years and years ago, the first time I went to JAE, there was an MR2 3SFE auto with a 355 bodykit on it.

Bet with the extra weight of the full kit with the already dire 120bhp (in 1989) motor, was a lil slow off the line. Looked convincing though.

In my opinion, I don't really see the point in replica cars. Just down to the reason that no MR2/355 conversion will ever sound like a 3.5ltr Ferrari V8. Unless of course, a 3.5ltr Ferrari V8 is installed, in which case, you may as well buy a genuine 355 rather than try and a)buy the Ferrari engine and b)Try and fit it to a MK2
