Anybody know how to change indicators on a G limited?

Post by oggy »

I Know this is daft but i can't figure out how to change my rear indicator bulbs!

Suspension, exhaust, speedo rebuilds no problem here i am stumped by the most mundane of thing.

Ive looked from behind the carpet in the boot and can't find anything to undo or loosen any where, any idea's?

regards,

Dont worry... I was the same when I first purchased my mk2.

Right doing this off the top of my head as its early in the morning and i dont think my neighbours would appreciate me going out and disasembling the rear of my car.

Step 1.

Open Boot (sounds obvious...because it is)

Step 2.

Look along the top of the lights you will see a screw above the light cluster you want to remove near the centre of the boot. Unsrew it.

Step 3.

Be carefull now.
You need to remove the side reflectors.
Get a large flat object like a normal table knife or a large flat head screw driver. Find the gap/seem between the reflector and the main light cluster and carefully slide in your flat object in the direction of the corner of the reflector. Now slowly and gently prise the reflector away from the light cluster. It will pop off be ready to catch it if you use too much force. (note: i usually wrap a knife in tissue paper so as not to damage the reflector or light cluster)

Step 4.

Now the reflector is removed it will reveal another two screws which need unscrewing.

Step 5.

Gently but firmly grip the main light cluster with your hands and pull away from the back of the car.. it will have some resistance because it is clipped on.

Step 6.

Once pulled away from the car it will reveal the back of the cluster. The rest is easy unscrew the bolb holder required and replace bulb.

Refitting.

Is basically the opposite to what you just did. Just make sure when pushing the light cluster back it locks in at the bottom onto the clips and make sure the wires are out of the way.

Hope this helps
