[Mk2] [Turbo] wet lights

Post by scleary121 »

so when my car has been sitting in the rain for a few hours or I drive through a large puddle, some of dash warning lights come on for a few seconds. obviously this is related to the water ingress but what could actually be causing the lights to come on?

Would you describe the dash, as, perhaps... Christmas-tree like?

Multiple warning lights illuminating is usually caused by a problem with the alternator, corroded/loose battery terminals, corroded/loose earth points or slipping auxiliary belt.

I too expect this to be a momentary alternator issue (belt or electronics) but with a description like "some of dash warning lights", who knows? I think we're expecting these the be the three lights of doom (battery, engine bay fan and cat temp) however you could conceive a collection of other issues could result in the PAS, CEL and /or ABS lights to light up due to water ingress.
