Worth it? I'm not sure unless you love the car.

Hard to answer as we do not know what you want with/from the car.![]()
If you are looking for a
'show car' then you'll need to spend a fair bit of money to bring it up to scratch, if you want a good useable Mk1 then
£500 is a good deal once you address a few issues
(clutch being the major one).

also, FYI, it is not a Mk1a, it is a cross over
ust get a set of locks off of eBay or off of someone breaking a whole car.![]()

Only for as long as people continue to take that attitude towards'Cat D' cars.
Any minor bodywork damage is sufficient to cause an insurance company to write off a mk1 these days, yet the damage could be much less serious and much less hassle to fix properly than some of the rust repairs that are considered routine maintenance.

As long as you know why a car was written off and that the damage has been repaired properly there's no real reason why they should be worth any less.
( industrial rust protection injected inside
) when i owned the car

I don't wish to cause any offence but the MK1 will never catch up with AE86 values.MK1's do not have the heritage so they will never be worth as much.
I love the MK1, I've arguably had far more fun in MK1's than I have ever managed in the AE86, but that doesn't make the MK1 worth more.

Import prices are mostly down to a very poor exchange rate. This is why nobody is importing MK1s.
It's simply not financially viable.
It makes no sense.
So a high price to import a MK1 doesn't mean it is high value.

Obviously each to their own but I would never buy a car that has been an insurance write-off.People will always knock the value down.
The problem is you can always buy another car that is not a Cat D and therein lies the problem.

People will do what they will they will with their money of course. My opinion is that I wouldn't touch a Cat D even if it was absolutely mint.
