cutting out

Post by 4ndee »

I havnt checked properly yet but any ideas welcomed . If I lightly tap the throttle the car cuts out or hesitation. But any other pressure and it's fine. I'm thinking perhaps maf meter or throttle body adjustment.although it didn't happen before I removed the engine now I'm thinking it's the throttle cables not adjusted correctly.

Throttle cable should have a little free play/slack, and that's it.

TPS and AFM won't have changed just by removing engine, so unlikely to be the issue.

Just reading another thread just popped into my head I removed the ac when I took the engine out. But still have the a.c. idle up valve connected

What exactly do you do? Do you tap then release the throttle, the engine goes on over run, bogs down and cuts out? Can you tap it then let it drop and tap it again to brings revs back up?

If so then you may want to check your TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) as that can get knocked out of alignment when the engine is being hulked in and out of an engine bay. In particular it will be its Idle Position that has altered. You may need to remove it and re-calibrate it to get the engine to idle proper once again.

However before you try this, check things like Idle Up Valves, vacuum lines, the connections to the TPS and other engine management sensors etc.

no need to remove the tps to calibrate it.

Also, more often than not when the iscv is playing up the idle dips after a rev.
