[Mk2] [Generic] Brake light turns indicator on

My indicators work fine as do my brake lights, when in use separately. Press the brake and flick the left indicate however and the left rear tail light goes off and the indicator comes on solid.
Anyone had anything like this before? What's my first port of call to fault find? I'm perplexed. If I had to guess (given the weather) this is related to water ingress but where it is I don't know.

Ive had this before on other cars and it was poor earthing in the light wiring.

Not an MR2 based answer but it would be an area to look in.

Almost certainly a floating earth problem I'd expect

So solution is pull the rear light cluster out, inspect and clean connectors? Or is it likely that the dodgey earth be elsewhere in the vehicle?

That would be my first port or call - and check the connector behind the boot carpet too

Seems to be fixed now!

I removed the rear cluster as outlined in this guide (http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/know-your-2-know ... bartid=218) and gave the connectors a good clean. Reassembled and the problem appears to have gone away. I feel like this is one of those little gremlins that if it does come back will come back at a most inopportune moments ie whilst driving past the fuzz. But for now its ok!

Upon fiddling in the boot/rear light area I did notice that the spoiler fixing bolts were letting in water so I sealed those up with some black silicone sealer (same stuff I used to repair the roof). Again only time will tell if that has solved the leaky boot but fingers crossed and thanks for your input guys
