White Mk1 - NOW HALF PRICE DUE TO HG FAILURE!

Post by BARNEY_MK1 »

*PLEASE READ* Today, i was driving home from work and as i got to the turning for my street, the car poured out white smoke so i am pretty certain the Head Gasket has gone. There is still coolant in the system and the car did not overheat at all as i was driven just a few yards after the smoke started. I checked the engine and the car does not misfire with the 4th ht lead unplugged but does with the others. As i have learned on here, this is a classic problem with the 4AGE engine where the 4th port is related to the Head Gasket failure. Therefore, i have decided to knock 750 pounds off the asking price which is more than reasonable considering the outstanding condition of the bodywork, the extras on the car and the potential to fix with a new head gasket or replacement engine. This is a real shame but at least it made it to JAE before this happened!

Advert below was accurate yesterday and is today aside from the HG issue:

Hi,
for sale is my 1987 Toyota Mr2 Mk1. The bodywork on this car is in superb order. No rust on the arches as is the case with many examples. The underside of the car is surprisingly rust free and very clean.

When i bought the car, there were two problems with it. The coolant was leaking and the roof also leaked. I fixed these problems to a perfect standard. The coolant leak was due to a missing rubber O-ring on a coolant bleed plug. I bled and re-filled the whole system with Toyota red coolant in the correct method, then replaced the coolant plug and expansion tank cap which completely sorted the leak.

The next job i did was the T-bar roof leak fix. As many of you will know , the T-bar versions of this car are prone to leaking but i have replaced many, many partin this area during a very thorough time consuming and expensive repair job which has restored the T-bar to like brand-new and stopped the rain getting in *edit* I checked the car after the heavy rain and some drips had got in. However, this is one hundred times better than before and I think with the eccentric guides you can get from Toyota for £20 the car should be completely water tight. I have replaced all of the HT leads and fitted a K+N induction filter. Standard air box with new filter is included. I have bought a Premium All seasons car cover which fits and protects the car very well. The enhancements to this car include: Rays Volk Racing Alloy wheels which are extremely expensive. A Fujitsubo Legalis R stainless steel exhaust which sounds sporty but is subtle and not loud at all, has a resonating heat shield at around 1500 rpm. Genuine Supercharger rear lights which are quite rare in the UK and usually pretty costly. This car is phenomenal and great fun, such a modern classic. I havn't owned it that long but i never really do. Its a common theme for me to get one of these, spend a fortune on it, love it and sell at a big loss then deeply regret it, so feel free to exploit this bad habit of mine! There are genuinely no structural faults with this car, i am an honest guy and seller. This car has been very well looked after to remain in this condition after all this time. I am only selling this to put funds towards another 4x4 vehicle which can transport me, my wife, our two kids and our dog. There is a fully working Air conditioning system, electric windows and mirrors, an imobiliser, cloth seats with one cigarette burn (not me) in the drivers side. The Mr2 has MOT until April 18th 2013. The last inspection showed no advisories. The mileage is under 105k miles. This has been run on super unleaded, which i use in all of my import cars. It is very rare to find one of these mk1s in this condition. The radio ariel even works. Original jack and space saver, coolant bleed tubes and sun shade bags, mr2 floor mats. Panasonic CD player. Classic, limited mileage insurance on this was only 150 pounds for the year and im 29. I have a HPI clear certificate. Road Tax until 1st October 2012. Plenty of old MOT certificates and some service history. I clean and polish this car sometimes twice a week and will give it a full valet and wax before sale to make it as pristine as possible for the new owner. I welcome viewings and inspections from potential buyers around my variable shift pattern. I am in Basingstoke. Any questions please call or text 07713470734. The buy it now price is £1750. Realistic offers welcome. Cheers, Robert

^ I know what you are referring to but they are not 'SC' lights as they were not specific to Mk1 Superchargers. Those light are on all US spec Mk1bs as an example.
If you can't see the angle, you're in trouble.
