my 6 x 9's sit in the boxes behind the seats, they sound fine. Couple that with a nice set of components in the front and it's all good!

Not that hard to do. If you don't have a sub sitting on the boxes you can just remove the top covers of the cubby holes (they're plastic) and cut them to size. I have a sub so i had to cut the metal and put the 6 x 9 where the factory sub normally sits.

I'll see if i can get some pics tonight.

i had an MR2 with Alpine 6x9's in the little boxes behind the seats.... they sounded poo TBH... there's simply not enough room in there for them to function properly.... it sounded muffled. Maybe a more suited speaker would sound good but generally 6x9's are made to function with lots of room (the boot usually). i discconected them and stuck some Cerwin Vega comp's in... sounded a treat!

Have you taken the door cards off to have a gander? (easy - few srews and pop off bits) there is not much room there in my opinion, especially for any good sound.
Wondered if any one has made custom pods for doors as in 'max-power' stylee modifed pugs & saxos etc... This way you would be able to use bigger speakers with more depth and hence better sounds.

Thanks for the replies, I will probably have a look inside the door, but maybe making some boxes up will be the only answer. This is a Mk 1 tho and not much room behind seats
