What sort of brake setup are you running...?

Post by add heywood »

Just come nack from my first track day, thoroughly enjoyed it but was cut short due to the pads wearing out.

I was on stock pads/discs etc and really suffered with brake fade and wobble after only a few laps. Let them cool for 20 mins and they came back. Its something im looking to improve. I can get fast road pads at a very cheap price, but what sort of discs should i go for? I dont want them to warp on track after a few laps. Also is it worth getting braided hoses for it?

Lastly am i limiting myself keeping the standard calipers (rev 3 turbo), should these be good enough for spirited track days, or should i be looking to upgrading the whole system...?

Cheers

I have carbotech pads (fast road, not race), standard toyota discs, standard brake lines and castrol super dot 4 brake fluid.

No warping, fade or other issues. Simply epic performance all day....and I give them one hell of a lot of grief.

Carbotechs, stock calipers, drilled & grooved discs and Goodridge lines front and rear. More than enough power and balance but oh so dusty.

if you are doing track days i would consider drilled/grooved disks, as i have found out in the past with cars i have track dayed (mondeo ST24, and MG ZT190), they prevent pads from glazing.

rev2+ had the bigger brakes, NA's and turbos are the same so unless you have a rev1 (na or turbo) you have the biggest stock size
