[Mk2] [NA] Gauges not working correctly

Post by KurtSmart »

OK, I had to take the gauges apart to re glue El dials that previous owner hadn't fitted down properly. After putting it all back together again my voltage gauge doesnt move at all, the speedo stutters and sometimes takes ages to catch up, the petrol gauge is stuck around 3 bars from bottom it did move up abit after filling only 2 bars though for £30.

Any ideas what to try? problems only turned up since i took it apart it was working fine before that

Make sure all the gauges are correctly fitted/seated and the screws are earthing. Had a similar problem when I took mine apart. Turned out the fuel gauge didn't seat properly. Repositioned and tightened the screws and all working again. Worth checking.

Argh cant get URL tag to work.

It works via copy and paste into browser for me anyway.

Update on issues now, every gauge seams to be working except speedo. What it does it stays around 20 mph when I first move off then when cars been going 10/15 mins it will start to increase speed roughly 10 mph lower than im actually doing. Eventually it will catch up once ive hit the motorway upto 70mph. When i take gauge apart and blow gently on the needle it moves smooth up but down itll move slightly smooth then stick then drop again.

I shall have to try and record a video

Your link will only work for you because the file is in your dropbox and you're logged into your dropbox account when you click it.
