A 005L battery is what you need.

Halfords discount card??
Bosche 005 silver??
Calcium technology??
Slightly more expensive but extra years warranty.
Toyota batteries not to pricey.

This. I think once you've seen the prices in Halfords, you'd be pleasantly surprised by wandering into your local dealer and hitting the parts guy up for some 'owners club membership discount' of some variety.

...or my local dealer "if you order one it'll probably be due in in 7 days time" -WTF, I'll just buy from the factors in 10 mins thanks, it's not a special battery by any stretch of the imagination. I think last time I asked about a battery at my dealership they wanted over £100.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but what is the difference between a L2 and a 005L battery?

I only ask as my rev 2 has the L2, and it dosnt fit right in the battery box, the top clamp is approx an inch or 2 above the battery :?

I picked up my battery from Mr T last year £45 IIRC, a lot cheaper than Halfords, and when it packed up 11 months later, no question new one fitted for me in 10mins, cant complain at that :D

That sounds dangerous  when I bought my first mr2 from hastings on the way home the battery light flashed on a few times round corners, the next day I took it out went round a corner and there was a bang and the engine died, basically the old owners had gone to halfrauds and an 063 battery IIRC had been fitted which meant the clamp didn't hold it in place. The battery had moved and the positive terminal clamp was stuck to the battery clamp and the earth wire had popped like a fuse.
I was lucky that a new battery and earth cable was all I needed.
