Remove head, drill out broken studs on a pillar drill, retap or use Time-Sert insert. Screw in new studs.

Common problem when trying to remove old nuts off rusted manifold studs. We heat them to red hot, or we leave manifold in place and remove turbo from manifold. Only nuts to remove.

are they snapped flush with the head? or is there a few threads left on show for a stud extractor?

If they snapped trying to undo nut, a stud extractor won't do any good.

really? Ive removed loads of snapped studs from 3SGE and 3SGTE's ex manifolds with as little as 4mm thread showing, its simple.

If its any consolation, I did exactly this and decided to take the car to a pro before I made it undrivable.

Not sure of the technique but Rogue managed to get all my snapped studs out (and a couple more on the way I think) with everything in situ. I think they used heat and a stud Extractor.

Could be worth a call/visit?

Hope that gives you confidence?

I have a lot of success with a mig.. if they are snapped flush build up with wield and tap an extractor on .. the current heats up the stud enough to free it off sometimes...

Or same as above but use a nut and wield a nut to the stud... Takes some practice and watch / shield from sparks

And last as peter says 90degree drill some good bits and time serts beware there are permanent but not cheap

It's only 10 ish hours to do a full head gasket swap, so i think 25 hours is a little over the top.
