[Mk2] [Turbo] i want 300bhp ish :P

Post by dylan5084 »

ok what would i need to do to get my rev 2 tubby to 300bhp?

might be buying a hks superdragger, would it be an idea to get a high flow manifold? better intercooler or chargecooler?? what else?

how strong is the rev 2 engine, its been recently refurbed but to what level i do not know? heard there softer than the rev 3 plus?

I'm aiming for 300 aswell from my Rev2. There are many options but I will tell you what most on here will say. Rev 3 conversion, CT20b and raise the boost to 18psi. Bigger intercooler is a must but no manifold changes needed.

I am doing it compleatly differently though!

Rev 2 long block is stronger than rev3.

Rev3 wiring conversion, Rev3 ECU, CT20b Turbo, Rev3 metal headgasket, 540cc injectors, walboro fuel pump, boost controller ~1.1 bar, decent IC/CC, exhaust, decat and induction kit

Should be close to 300bhp :thumleft:

I've got the injectors in the Rev2 fuel rail and an AP Engineering Apexi PFC, also selling a turbo that'll spool rather quick and get you well over 300 too, oh and a GReddy IC :thumleft:

The blocks are as strong as each other. The Rev3 has a lower compression ratio and better cams so will give 300hp at a lower boost then you will need to run a Rev2

If you want the flutter. Take the bov off or block it off.

You will actually increase response between shifts, contrary to popular sponsored opinion.

What difference does the rev 3 wiring conversion make- bhp gains?

Agreed :thumleft: however, A few rev3's suffered casting issues causing a thinner wall between 2/3. Both blocks are a gamble for strength. If your worried about block strength then use a 5s block.

As for 300bhp. Fit a PFC + rev3 engine loom & sensors & injectors, fit an ATS larger TB intake, aftermarket IC, EBC, Decat downpipe, CT20b, Vernier pulley on the exhaust cam & set to -6' , get it mapped and report back 8)

I thought it was -2 for the exhaust on a rev3? :-k Mine's off for a remap next week, so if it is -6 then Ryan can sort it

Didn't we set mine at -2? :-k

Doesn't matter massively as there's ATS pulleys and a man with a dyno :D

Something I am curious about too, especially because my greatest satisfaction comes from doing things on a tesco value budget and getting near enough as good results as folk who just throw money at a car lol
