[Mk2] [Generic] Super Live Sound System Disconnected....Why?

Post by Mike »

Bit of a speculative question I know but please bear with me.

My Rev 2 GT Turbo has the Super Live system but its been disconnected at some point in its 20 year life. In its place there's a single din cd player and just a set of 6x9s in the boxes behind the seats, they are the only speakers that work.

Two questions;

1 - Barring technical issues, why would someone do this? Are there common reasons to disconnect the system.

2 - If all the hardware is present, is it easy to reconnect the system?

I realise the first question is very speculative but hey, there may be a common issue I'm not familiar with,

Cheers folks

No idea, but both of mine have had aftermarket installs that bypassed some or all of the original system.

I've just finished bypassing it completely on my current MR2, leaving the stock system untouched. On my first it had been butchered.

The subs are common to fail behind the seat. Also the wiring in the doors can brake so the door speakers stop working. Possibly one of these.
