Rear wheel arches cost?

Post by 0233winch »

Hi guys, just a quick question. How much should it cost for my rear wheel arches to be cut out and new ones to be stuck back in. With a possible full body respray. Ive had a couple of quotes what do you guys think it should cost roughtly?

My rear passenger side is being done at the moment and for the work plus spray of the rear quarter, boot and engine lid along with two chassis repairs it's going to cost £570 plus the VAT.

£2500 with a full coat of paint.

The cost of the arch repair will be insignificant compared to the respray.

Respray cost can be anything from a few hundred to a few thousand depending on the quality of the work, the reputation of the people doing it and the amount of prep being done.

Where abouts are you? I had all four arches done on my first mk1 by a bodywork specialist in kent and it was under £1000. That was 10 years ago though!

Yes, Ollie is right £2500 to include the three sections each side and respray. Had mine done last year - well more work than this but that was that element cost. Dickersons (Mark 1 Club popular garage) last year were charging £1250 for both sides, inc. parts with local spray and blend.

Those are for solid colour - metallic (two coat) will be more. Respray costs depend on prep and degree of trim removed. Mine had all trim removed, including aerial. It's cheaper to mask not remove, but you don't get detail finish.

It's lots of work. My experience, and that of many others, is that one of the sections has to be cut and shortened slightly. Years ago they seemed to fit perfectly without work I'm told. There's some skill in getting absolutely original contour and perfect mudflap fit profile but overall the sections offer massive time savings and are very good.

The guys at Rawautoworks who are doing mine seem to be getting on alright with the repair panels. I've fettled the sill return one already and yeah they do need a fair amount or rejigging but are generally pretty good.

Thank you everyone so much ive decided to wait a while longer as the street im living in at the moment is a terrist street and if i do spend such a amount of money i want it to be safe. Iv noticed alote more scratches appearing since i have moved hear and just feel it be a waist of money at the moment. But i do love my mr2 to bits and defanitly getting her sorted in the future.

I was quoted £450 by Mk1Dal who is up in Buxton, Derby, but that's with buying the material myself for £270 plus driving up there using £80 worth of fuel.
