rev 2 converted to rev 3 3sge

Post by Scott87 »

Time has unfortunately come meaning i need to sell my mr2.

For those of you who have followed it there has been a project thread located here:

http://www.mr2oc.co.uk/forums/125/152111.html

It is rev 2 shell with a complete rev 3 3sge engine conversion. The only mechanical work to complete is to fit the exhaust gaskets to each end of the flex that i have.

There is:

new battery,
new radiator,
new hoses from hell,
new clutch line,
refurbished brakes,
mrd gt2 skirts and rear spats,
border front bumper,
rev 3 3sge engine and gearbox with new clutch, just under 100k,
leather interior, wear to the driver bolster,
brand new battery,

the car runs and drives spot on.

loads of other work done too.

the car has no mot or tax being a project.

the bits left to do are the gaskets and the wellding. The sill on passenger side is 90% done. The rear bumper breather section is welded and complete. The welding left is the driver sill, driver wheel arch and the driver rear bumper breather section. A day or 2's welding.

Im looking for £500 and the lot is yours. I also have a spare standard exhaust and cat that i will throw in too.

The body kit is colour coded to the car but does need some tlc. Ideally an outer respray that i was going to get done with a lovely member on here.

The number plate is also worth a tidy sum. It reads k200OGT so great for any k reg 2ltr mr2 owners :-)

pm for details.

haha ok thanks.

Here it is:

I then set about welding the rusted areas which has been an nightmare but is going well. Hopefully one more day to go and all the rust repairs will be finished....Still needs grinding down but it is all going to be covered by skirts and the rear bumper so looks arent too important.

Forgot to post these. Tried to clean up the engine bay a bit too. Had to use baby wipes though as ive got no running water at my lockup

Few hours spent on the mr2 today. I sanded down all of the suspension arms and coated them in hammerite just to keep them looking clean and rust free:

I have also bought myself a new aluminium radiator and im pretty glad i did after getting the one removed from my car:

New rad turned up Really glad i didnt go for the polished one, Looks really nice i think. Pretty nice weld too!

i also fitted the radiator.

also fitted the sensor:

I then painted the brackets etc and sprayed the fan loosely.

Still left to do:

Fit the new clutch line (length of the car)
Plug everything into the engine
Fit the airbox (no idea how this goes it looks impossible!)
Fill up with fluids
bleed the clutch and the brakes

I guess then im at start the car point??!!

Spent all afternoon on the 2 again and made some more progress.

Rebuilt the clutch slave cylinder, the slider was much better off of the turbo engine so i mounted this to another piece of housing i had. Also attached the gear and clutch cable:

I managed to fit a new clutch line running the length of the car by cutting the old one out. There is 1 small bit that wont come out but nevermind. On a ramp in the future ill get it!

I also fitted the flex and tidied a few wires up under the car.

Off to buy the fluids tomorrow and hopefully try starting her. So if ive missed anything now would be a good time to tell me!

Another afternoon down and quite a bit more accomplished. Seeing as i need a spare pair of hands for clutch and brake bleeding i did these bits today.

I masked off all the section i didnt want to paint and covered the hoses etc etc and cleaned the area down ready for painting:

I NEED TO FIND THE ORIGINAL PHOTO LOCATIONS AGAIN, BUT FOR NOW HERE IS SOME OF THE BUILD IN TEXT FORM......
