Cheers for the info by the way, really useful. :thumleft:

No worries :thumleft:

Bought the G3 second hand, they vary in price between £350 and £500. I've been mapping cars for years, so no tuner costs.

I didn't want to butcher the stock loom, but Link no longer offer the patch cable for the G3 & 3SGTE, and Thor couldn't source one for me either. A place in Ireland could build me one for £200, so I built my own using the connectors & case from a cheap N/A ECU with the circuitry gutted.

I'm really interested now, damnit! This could get expensive...

I suppose it doesn't matter what aftermarket ECU you have, to a point? As long as you map it correctly (not me doing it!) and have the appropriate fuelling...

Some are better than others. I personally rate the Link G3 highly, as you can get them for a good price, they have quite good resolution with some useful features such as launch control, anti-lag, traction control. Unless you're going all out, anything from a Power FC upwards will be fine, although given the stupid price of Power FCs for the 3SGTE, I wouldn't bother with them personally.

Have a look down the spark plug hole. The HKS pistons in my Pulsar have a smaller round circle than stock ones, that's how I found out about those particular ones, but it was recently rebuilt and there was no carbon build-up. The Wossner forgies I have for the 3SGTE have numbers stamped into the crown. The stock 3SGTE piston I found a pic of online has 2C stamped on it. Failing that, drop the sump and see if the underside of the pistons can tell you anything.

Assume they are standard until you can confirm 100% :D
