I need to remove my valve spring can anyone tell me what is the best valve spring tool kit I can buy, I'm only going to be using it this once the the cheaper the better and what shops best to get it from, I have the head off if that's any help [/list]

If you just want to remove a valve, it can be done with a socket just smaller than the size of the top spring retainer, placed on the offending valve and stuck firmly with a suitable hammer, the collets will bounce out. If your new to this sort of thing wear saftey glasses or goggles.

There are also proper magnetic tools that do the same job.


If you need to re-assemble, we have a bar hinge mounted at the bottom, welded on the bench with a tube linked about half way up that has a cut out for putting the collets through it works by leverage or buy a large framed spring compressor but you may have to cut chunks out of the frame for it to clear the head when its compressed.

If you are really stuck, get a local garage to do it for you.
