Discussion and technical advice the SW20 MR2. 3S-GTE, 3S-GE, 3S-FE etc
Anything and everything to do with maintenance, modifications and electrical is in here for the Mk2.
I didnt quite get that. You mean you want a turbo car? But not sure which one? Or you want to convert your car to a turbo?
If your car is a non turbo just sell it and buy a turbo version, it will be cheaper and easier. Unless you have spent shedloads on respray and other mods that would mean more effort swapping everything over, then I guess it would be better to have a conversion.
Put the word out in the `wanted` section that you need EVERYTHING to convert your N/A to a rev3 turbo, engine, wiring, ECU etc etc, there are plenty of people on here who will be helpful and tell you exactly what is required.
Then once you have sourced all the parts you could have a word with one of the affiliates and see what kind of price they would do for fitting, get all the gear delivered to them. They might supply the stuff themselves but sometimes saves a few quid to source parts yourself. Unless you plan to do all the work yourself? Then you will save hundreds.
That car deffo looks worthy of keeping and doing an engine swap.
yeh i thought that myself its just where to start that gets me lol i was hoping i could buy a cheap turbo n give someone both cars and do the swap and let them keep the turbo shell and my engine , just trying to figure out whats easiest and where to go , would prefer it done right and i dont think theres any mr2 garages in scotland
wish someone would just take my car and bring it back as turbo lol
TBH fella I'd sell up and buy a Rev 3 Turbo and start again.
This time you'll have loads of power and a clean slate to style the car as much as you want.
You'll prob find it will be cheaper buying a turbo and styling the same as what youve got as opposed to changing the engine etc - although if you did all the work yourself you might save a bit of money.
HTH
Pete
yeh i know it would be cheaper to do it myself, done all of mine myself but working with engines id have no clue atall lol
much is he selling it for buddy???
I'd be tempted to remove the aftermarket parts you've fitted, put the car back to stock and sell. Then buy a turbo and swap the parts onto it or sell the parts off separately.
that would be ok but all the bodywork is blended in so would be a pain to take off ill just save up for a turbo i think and keep mine until then , il probz end up keeping it and have 2mr2s lol
