What's the best way to buy from Toyota? Local dealer?

Or do we have a Toyota rep on here who can get us OEM parts?

The best way is to not buy from Mr T at all if you can possibly help it synXero

Some things can't be obtained elsewhere of course

In such cases I order through my local dealer

They carry virtually nil stock for my Mk1 though

Peter long lasting quality items should be bought from Toyota, as you get what you pay for.

Re: front drop links
I think I'll choose to buy from Toyota as my oem rears are still going 17 years on, whereas my fronts were replaced feb 2009 with eBay's best, and are gone.

Also
- I need a new front ARB.
Second hand Whitelines or TRDs are the options I've seen.
Are there others?

When I needed a cambelt kit they didn't have one in stock so I had no choice but to get one on next day delivery from Camskill.
It's just a belt at the end of the day and won't destroy the engine if it snaps.

Back to...
Ford Fiesta ones cut, sleeved and welded so the links are on the same side.
Work a treat and last well.

Re: front drop links
Agreed, been using them for years without issue, and they cost
£8 each from my local motor factors, come to think of it i've never had a modified Ford one wear out.

I can see the logic in going to Toyota, especially if you can't weld etc, it's just the cost of them i have a problem with, i could probably make ten pairs for a single pair of Toyota ones.

Weld
I can't weld, but I know a man who can

The first set I made weren't even welded, just threaded into pieces of brass with an internal thread I found in the junk box.
A pair of lock nuts made sure they didn't move around.

I think I paid about
£8 each for mine, so even if they do wear out
(which they don't seem to) as Paul says, you could make 10 for the price of a Toyota one.

Fit the Toyota ones and you can forget about them.I bought OEM droplinks, I used them on three cars over 5 years.

12 months and 10k miles on my rosejointed ones with no sign of wear.

£130 to to do all 4 but I can replace each joint individually for
£8 when they do finally go.

Do yours have rubber covers over the joints Adam

Re: front drop links
Yes they do.
All bought from Mcgill Motorsports.

Yes, I'm aware of McGill

Will be getting some
Re: front drop links
Sad news.
Came back from another 1000 mile round trip to the lakes
(now nearly 13k miles since fitting) and it had developed a rattle from the driver side front.
The lower rose joint has slight play however none of the others are showing any signs of wear whatsoever.
Looks like some water has got in so possibly need to find a better method of sealing the boot than cable ties.
I can't begrudge
£10 for a new one
(though the price has gone up slightly!) and will keep you informed with how the others last!

Re: front drop links
Just thought I'd point out now as I've got a little rattle, even though its on the rear, I bought my drop links front and back four years ago.

I have a rattle from my rear links which have done 87k miles.
I would imagine the fronts will be going soon as well.
