Rev 3 turbo Oil temperature 120*C? Is this correct?

Post by b16hbg »

Hi all, as above, my defi gauge is reading 120 degrees after about 20-25 mins fair drive, the take off for the gauge is on the oil filter housing, mods are fairly standard apart from larger inter cooler, buddy club straight through exhaust and hks filter, oh and a greddy oil catch tank in place of the standard. As always many thanks for your help

In a word, no. lol. That's way too high after 20-25 minutes, too high I'd say for the oil to have even got to that temperature so I'd hazard a guess at the sensor being faulty. After 10 minutes or so of driving (around town) my temperature at this time of the year is usually at about 80 or so degrees. Take it on the motorway and it goes up significantly to maybe around the 100 degree mark, sometimes higher if it's a spirited drive but I think the maximum I've ever seen is about 110 degrees on a VERY hot day on the motorway.

Oil should run above 100c but not too much above. This is to boil off any water that has got into it

maybe it is a faulty sensor
