[Mk2] [Turbo] oil leak, onto the flexi pipe - any ideas...

Post by Raptor »

right well not too happy but my rev1 has a slight/serious issue. was pushing it the other day and the engine started smoking (after boost) then again today it happened. got the rac out and he spotted oil constantly dripping onto the bend prior the the exhaust flexi pipe, pretty much under the turbo.

has anyone got any ideas what may have caused this as im going to leave it at the mechanics this weekend and don't wanna be taking the mick out of by them.

just had it trailered home as rac bloke thought it would catch fire!

cheers in advance!

The turbo oil feed / drain pipes bolts to the bottom of the turbo, secured by 2 bolts and a gasket in the middle.. Could be a leak here, also check the other end of the oil supply - its a Banjo bolted to the back of the block. This is prob the only place you will get oil from on that side of the engine. Its always possible it could be leaking from the rear of the sump but assuming Rev1's use the same sealant that the rev2 onward use, then its highly unlikely.

cheers, i think its quite likely to be that part you mentioned as it seems to be coming from that area. it's going to the garage on Saturday so will make sure they check that first!
