Prosport oil temp sandwich plate

Hey people I have wired up my boost guage and it all works I have wired up my oil temp guage so the lights come on but I haven't put the sandwich plate in yet (waiting till my service then I'll pop a new filter in their aswel)

Just a little scared about it leaking


Anyone here used a sandwich plate before ??

The seller also sent me like a thread adaptor thing but looks way to big for anything ?

Iv used one supplied from demon tweaks for my old 3sge engine and all was fine. The double nut/bolt thing goes on over the plate to hold it in place then you screw your filter to this.

Of course how can I be so stupid that screws the sensor down into the oil filter hole then the filter screws into that like a extension lol

vtec, have you got a Rev 2 or a Rev 3? If it's a 2, I'd like to hear how the install goes. I've got the exact same sandwich plate, but like you, I'm waiting until the oil change to install it. I've been told it may foul on something, but looking in the bay, I'm not so sure

(It was a long time ago someone told me this, that used to own a rev 2)

Its a rev2 not sure if its going to touch anything shouldn't really if you the wire bits pointing towards nothing !!

If it does touch something ill just pull the sensor out of the sandwhich plate and find somewere else to put it..

Still got a few miles on this oil and filter though.. If you beat me to a service then report back if I beat you to a service then ill report

It was more the filter rubbing on something with the added 'length' although it looks clear to me

Ha I see you point buddy.. Hmmm I can't really see where it could rub onto?

Ah! I'm being an idiot. I used to have an aftermarket manifold on, which I then put back to stock. From memory, it may have rubbed on that.

I had a sandwich plate for oil temp....rev2 tubby...but it leaked like fk when it got hot, it's too near the exhaust manifold for some but not for others

Would never use a sandwich plate again! I had one and leaked everywhere!

I had one on my old mk2,cant remember the brand. It didn't leak but as its so close the manifold I never got an accurate reading. Only thing I found it useful for was to get an idea when the oil was upto temp.

I'll position the temp sensor as far from the manifold as possible then. I heard a bit of sealant between the plate and the filter does the trick to stop leaks, too.

Fitted mine to my REV2 with a little sealant on the plate, 2 yrs on and still now leaks

Don't put it between plate and filter though, you seal it between plate and oil cooler
