Why buy a car & drive it 40 miles in a year, what a waste of what was £23k new. At least someone's had fun looking at it...

Weren't they about £16K new? Turbos were around the £25K mark if memory serves.

Agree though, for a 19 year old car that's done 4K miles, it must have spent a considerable amount of time under wraps.

Mind you, he says it only comes out in dry weather, which in the UK, would tie in with 4K miles in 19 years

looks nice, but the price , I think he may be slightly overvaluing the collectors item slogan there.

Yeah, unfortunately, as good as the car is/looks, it's such a narrow market it's being applied to.

They arent rare enough yet to command a price like that, even as clean and low miles as that example. Who is going to pay that kind of money at the moment when you can pick one up with 70k on the clock with service and cambelt recently done for £800.

Lmao, it is a bit excessive. And it be fair the millage is low bits still a rev2 UK so the body may not be a 4k miles car.

23 the top end it seems, still understand low miles if cars been off the road but to MOT it every year and drive it but hardly at all seems so sad for.any car. Even if they get 8k for it and the car was 16k new thats cost 8k in depreciation alone, that £2 a mile not adding fuel, serving, insurance etc. Did they get their moneys worth in fun, crazy...

Yes, a rev2 would've been around £16K.
With inflation etc, a UK rev5 was around £23K.

Mines done 45 times that mileage... that's 45 times the fun. Keep the money.

R.

I wonder if it's actually on it's 3rd cambelt etc etc as service schedule would dictate.

Could have been a collector but I know of a few cars where it isn't that simple.
There was a 3dr cossie that went for 35 grand last week that had 2500 miles on it. The reason was the guy that owned it had a messy divorce and the car got stored for many years and then the guy died.

Also know of an extremely rare mk1 escort with very low mileage that is sat rotting away on an old ladies drive she won't sell it because it was her late husbands car.

I get that, but this one has all the MOT's which means it's been taken out for the MOT every year, just not driven much which is crazy, like I say pay all the money then not use it, why? Don't need to overdo it or not look after it but 200 miles a year is daft...

One year there shows 7 miles. That's presumably to the very local dealer to pay for both service and MOT. What a waste.
