REVISION 5 Spoiler

I'm fitting an original Revision 5 spoiler and its being resprayed at a bodyshop and they are having problems trying to dismantle it. They have unscrewed the side panels and inside screws but for some reason they can't detach the spoiler fully from the 2 side supports as there is a bolt which I believe is for the adjustable mechanism and they can't work out how to release this bolt. Is a special tool required and how is it done?

That is weird mate, I was thinking the exact same thing but didn't want to post because I thought it might be a daft question.....

You cant spray it properly without taking it apart and YES it does require a special tool. The guy who sprayed my spoiler took it apart totally to spray it. That way if I choose to adjust it I wont see any area that hasnt been sprayed. Not sure what tool you need to totally unscrew the bolts that have the funny heads but I think the body shop I took my spoiler too just used some tight grips on it to undo it. Shouldnt be to hard to work out.

Yes I have a replica one. They have to dismantle it to get in all the nooks and crannys. then when putting it on the car, have both ends loose otherwise its tight.

anyone wanna rev3 spoiler off me?££££

Mine was never dismantled for spraying and it looks fine. They seem to use those 'security' bolts with the little ramps so they can only be tightened, not loosened.

It's only a problem if you ever intend to adjust the angle of the centre-section IMO.

I had a copy one before which a bodyshop took it apart as it was easier to spray. But this is an original JDM spoiler which is slightly different. I can't understand why they can't figure out how to loosen the nut being that they are suppose to be experts in repairing and spraying cars?!

I will relay the info you have all posted and see what happens.

Ive never adjusted my spoiler but if wanted to I could and all the paint would match.

I used an original Rev 5 spoiler to make my moulds from, I know which bolt you mean.
I undid them with a large flat blade screwdriver and a good bit of pressure.
A special tool is needed but a screwdriver will do the job, unless the bolt is rusted in

Too true, my Veilside spoiler is adjustable but I ain't ever gonna adjust it LMAO

Don't really need to adjust it and will probably never do that, just need to take it all apart so I can have it rubbed down properly and finished professionally after some muppet of a body sprayer had ago at it before.

Thanks all for your help it does require a special tool which we have access to, so if all goes to plan should have the whole car re-sprayed with spoiler to match tomorrow.
