[Mk2] [NA] Is it worth dremeling out intake manifold?

Post by Ash3000 »

Hi all,

I made an impulse purchase and got myself a intake manifold painted red (random i know)

Anyway, I took a look inside it and noticed the walls of the part were uneven and rough with some knotches left from the casting process (nothing more than normal)

Ive got a dremel and me being me thought that the more unrestricted the air the better the performance?

So here is my question "Is it worth dremeling out intake manifold? " seems like a laborious job just for an old mr2, is there any worth in it?

Cheers,
Slarty

It certainly won't hurt, as such, but the gains will be minimal. Also, obviously, you'll have to make sure you get every single bit of swarf out afterwards...

Not a problem :) I think the lack of replies may be due to the fact that by the time that you've gotten to the stage of polishing the inlet tracts, you're going to have already spent a considerable amount of money on the engine, and few people do that on the N/A's

I thought remembering the MR2 intake manifold is very good to begin with. And sufficient for the 600bhp goal, and there is no need for any aftermarket manifold.

So, it might won't do any harm. But, I don't think you will notice anything, as Slarty mentioned before.
