IMOC trip to The Le Mans 24hr 2012

Post by unowho »

Hi Guys,

Well we are now mid way through January and I'm sure some of you are now planning ahead and this years annual pilgramage to Le Mans is being planned.

The race weekend is 16/17th June and with dates ranging from 11th to 22nd for travelling to and from.

The Le Mans experience is a must for avid race fans, we stay at a chateau 20 minutes from the track and 15 minutes to the Hypermarket but it doesn't stop there, you can also take yourself off to the surrounding areas including many a vineyard or just a pleasant little village for lunch or dinner.

You can get some more information from here

Not sure on sloopeh, the last I heard on J & S was a yes as Ki and Lyn and baby was going too, but not heard anything since.

No worries on title :)

Just to say what an excellent weekend away Le Mans is. You can't truely call yourself a petrolhead unless you've been at least once!

Although I've got my own crew that I go with every year I'm sure the IMOC trip is just as much fun!

I don't think it matters who you go with, it is just an event you HAVE to go to even once, I love it :thumleft:

A lot of the corners you don't need tickets for. Arnage is covered by the general entrance ticket and there's a free bus down there from the main complex. I've never bought a grandstand ticket but you do need to get them fairly early in advance (pit straight and dunlop are good by all accounts). Even if you do buy a grandstand ticket in advance, you will still need to get a general entrance ticket as well. These are cheapest and easiest to buy on the gate once you're there.

We stay at a local chateau rather than at the circuit, so we get white car park tickets too as these are numbered and reserved individually for you. Less of a consideration if you are staying on site.

There are a few places you can get tickets from. I use Just Tickets & Motoring but I think this year the guys found a place that's a little cheaper.

If you are going early, there is a free pit walk on the Wednesday. There's one on Friday too but that's usually way way too busy to see anything.

I found a great online guide one year but can't find it now. I've got the URL at home so I'll dig it out for you.
