[Mk2] [Generic] Replacing cloth door inserts with leather

Post by Magic Beans »

Evening :)

While I'm waiting for couriers to sort their lives out and find the huge building I work in ](*,) I thought it sensible to get a few more details on what the best method is to remove the stock cloth inserts and replace them with some aftermarket (LSC) versions?

From what I've read the stock leather doorcards come with removable inserts, however the cloth inserts are bonded in. So at a guess I'd imagine you have to take a scalpel to the cloth panels, leaving you with the space to add the new ones in?

Anyone done this and care to share some wisdom please? :thumleft:

cut the cloth off with a knife, they are not inserts then just cut slits to fit the tabs of the leather inserts, really is that easy :)

Cheers buddy :thumleft: A few bits to do to finish the job (LEDs, clean etc) but a big difference, as you said.

Peter is a great guy and it's fantastic to have access to someone with the knowledge and skills he's got. Honest with it too, unlike some mechanics I've known over the years.. :|
