I'd recommend contacting CCI, they were by far the cheapest. For a 95 GT Turbo I pay £311 per annum full comp, with £350 excess and the policy also covers 5 track days, they also gave me club discount and 1 years free no claims bonus (I'd been living away from the UK for many years so had no recent UK insurance no claims).

Is your car registered as having a turbo engine? May be they think it is still an N/A.

That doesnt tell you it`s a turbo though mate just the engine size and GT Sports is on the log book of many uk t-bar cars that are non turbo.

Agreed, that could be easily mistaken for a UK non-turbo, UK cars are cheaper to insure too, with such a low premium It'svworth checking they've got it right...

Agreed make sure they know it is a turbo. :thumleft: will really invalidate your insurance if you don't.

not mentioning this is a second car for you and I assume limited mileage, this makes a HUGE difference to price usually. Also, you may not be earning nCB on the policy.

UK car I imagine, you need to get a requote based on the turbo swap.

23 years old 4 years NCB, and never had an accident

£305 a year

- Its a UK n/a car, and is used as a second car, but doesn't have limited mileage and isn't on a classic car policy. I'm with Admiral.

:thumleft:

Have you tried classic line insurance - huge discounts and very reputable firm that a lot of people on here use :D - I intend to go with them next time.

The big difference is the Turbo thought insurance companies generally see a big red flag when they see that. 8-[ I'm with classic line i've been told that they don't use your No claims..

There is no such car as a GT TURBO.

There is only GT or GT-S which were all turbos. As your insurnace cert says the correct car you are properly insured.

If your insurance company doesn't understand the difference between a GT and a uk car it's not your beef.

ALL GT cars are turbos!

I need to move insurance companies, thankfully its up in a few months!

On an NA (Import) with 9+ NCB and at 37 mines gone up to over £470 fully comp, with the rear disc upgrade, alloys and air intake declared and limited to 5-6000 miles a year.

Incorrect

That could be a UK NA or an import turbo. I'm looking at my system at work now we have:

Mr2 G Limited
Mr2 GT
Mr2 GT T Bar
Mr2 GT tenth anniversary
Mr2 GT Turbo
Mr2 GTS

No, it is down to YOU to make sure your car is insured correctly.

There are a couple of companies to try in the affiliates section :thumleft:

I've just spoken to Toyota who say the GT was only ever released in Japan, I then rang a different RRG and spoke to there parts dept who said the same thing. There were other varients of the GT released in the UK, GT coupe, GT Tbar, GT 10th etc, but not to be confused with the GT.

I'll ring your local Toyota if you like Ollie and then you can ring them after me to confirm what they are saying.

I did actually send my insurance comany an email to confirm it was an import and of the turbo variety as it didn't refer to this on my ins document. I would be happy to show i've done all i can to insure the correct car as it should be insured.

Toyota are emailing me later and i'll have to buy him a beer for having to xxxx around on a Friday Afternoon.

Where does your info come from Ollie?

All these quotes seem very reasonable to me :?

Just renewed myself - £650 w/ 4 years NCB, 24 years old, 6 points, lowest risk postcode, only car - Rev3 Turbo.

It is right that you pay more by paying monthly. They are effectively loaning you the money (at a crap rate).
