[Mk2] [NA] gearbox oil leak mk2 n/a

serious oil leak from my gearbox recently had a new one and clutch fitted last week, its been great then today oil every where, looks like its coming out the drive shafts, any advice or shall i just take it back. i know its the gearbox oil as its as clean as. at first i was thinking is it possible for it to have been over filled.

With these cars it's always prudent to replace the seals when the clutch is replaced as they are quite delicate.

The garage may not have considered this. Even if you take it back don't expect the repair ( or the labour) for free. It is advisable to do both as both of the driveshafts will have been removed. Even if one side appears OK at present it may begin leaking in the near future.

As above mate defo the drive shaft oil seals .....There as cheep as chips to buy but a big job to replace . i need to do mine :cry:

They probably damaged one of the drive shaft oil seals when putting the driveshaft back- it's easily done :eye:

To be honest it's a relatively easy job replacing them, just a bit of a pain cos you have to drain the g/box oil again, and strip some of the suspension to give your self room the get the shaft out, a couple hours work no problem

Not seen one, but as said above, not a difficult job. We bill it out at an hour a side.

hi all thanks for the replies, i rang told him and your all right driveshaft seals and the jobs being done friday 30 labour and 40 parts from mr t had to order myself, i now know anyway for future gearbox replacement and there will be because its in process of becoming a track car/road legal.
