TRD2000GT

Re: Shaf's TRD MR2 Turbo (2006 Pics)

Post by TRD2000GT »

The 2000GT was released in 1997 = revision 4 Dukey anything previous is replica. Thats a rev1/2 from the rear lights. And bloody hell does it look stunning! Shaf is the black TRD in the pics the actual one your gettin? The one in the pics has UK plates tho?
You gotta get some dished polished rims like the original rims TRD threw on looks the nuts...observe :

Just because the 2000GT body conversion was created in 1997 it does not mean it was not officially offered to 1997+ only cars.

Toyota Technocraft recognised that they could supply and fit their kit onto any Mk2 MR2 and thus offered the option to retrofit the body conversion. In fact the VERY FIRST body conversion Toyota Technocraft did was a Rev2 car! The basic conversion price was approx 1 million japanese yen + fitting and painting prices, so in Japan most owners who did this conversion paid approx £8,000 to get it done.

Even a replica kit needs fitting so in reality (if the kit was well constructed and well fitted) it still costs a minimum of around £5,000 to get one done well. Lets be honest a decent full body respray costs between £1,000 and £2,000 ! At the end of the day the original was not using carbon fibre or anything, it was a TVR style fibreglass jobbie so there's no reason why a replica's cannot be as good a quality as the original... IMHO the key to quality is mostly in the fitting...

I wouldnt worry about that....its the weight of the spacers that you need to make your wheels sit flush with the body !!!!

Shaf, that's one of, if not the nicest MR2's I've ever seen!

It's the right colour, it's got the right engine, it's got the right bodykit, it's got the right wheels, it's a T bar, it's.........making me jealous :D

I hope to see it in the flesh at some of the Jap shows this year
